Workspace Basics: Windows and Panels

  • In addition to its menus, the Adobe Photoshop user interface is made up entirely of all sorts of windows and panels. They can be rearranged, grouped, stacked, and docked to create a custom workspace.
  • The area that the file opens up into is called the document window. The default background color of the window is grey, but this can be changed to black or a custom color of your choice.
  • Head to the Application bar and click the Arrange Documents drop-down button. You'll lots of various options for displaying your document windows.
  • Every time you reopen the application, your favorite panels and windows will be open and in the exact position you left them. To revert back to the workspace we had upon default, navigate to the application bar again, click the double arrows, and chose Design.
