Intro to Masks Basics

Stefy
Stefy completed this card.
  • Masks are applied to any type of layer and allow us to show or hide specific parts without completely erasing the data.
  • When parts of a layer is masked, it's visually hidden and protected from any changes, filters, or affects you make to the rest of the layer.
  • The key to layer masks is understanding that applying black or grey tones to the mask with the painting tools in your tool bar will hide or protect parts of the image, and using white will reveal parts of that same image.
  • Pixel masks are defined as resolution-dependent bitmap images that are edited with the painting or selection tools.
  • Vector masks are resolution independent and created with a pen or shape tool.
