I went with the following options:
RAM
- 2 x Corsair Apple Certified 4GB (1x4GB) DDR3 1066 MHz (PC3 8500) Laptop Memory (CMSA4GX3M1A1066C7)

SSD
- Samsung 850 Pro 512GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-7KE512BW)

I realize that 512GB is A LOT of memory and I probably won't ever use it all.. but I figured that
1. I hope to keep using my computer for a few more years so I might as well give myself some extra space.
2. I had originally budgeted $1800 for a new computer and this SSD which was was the PRO version and had the biggest memory "only" cost $250.
Urgh! I forgot to order the laptop kit for my SSD drive and had to wait an extra week to replace it while the missing parts came. *
