Watching this TED talk reminded me about the power of not yet — From now on, I'll practice telling myself "not yet" instead of "no". 🙌

Beautiful thoughts from this TED talk:
" I love a challenge!"How awesome to go through life and  be excited about difficulty.

"Engage deeply with errors." Your brain is literally "lit" up when you're engaging something that's hard.

"'Yet' gives you a path into the future.

On developing a growth mindset:
- Praise process. Change the meaning of effort and difficulty.
Effort and difficulty = your neurons are making new connections, stronger connections and you are literally getting smarter.

- Create spaces filled with yet. Create a space for yourself that has yet in it.
- Even a thirteen year old can feel like he's wasted his whole life. :')

  • A fixed mindset assumes that our character, intelligence, and creative ability are static givens.
  • A growth mindset thrives on challenge and sees failure as a springboard for growth and for stretching our existing abilities.

Questions:
Are there times where I've wanted to prove myself? When?

Main Takeaways:
  • Instead of overcoming deficiencies, overcome them
  • Look for friends who challenge me to grow
  • Seek experiences that will stretch me
  • The growth mindset applies not only to education and intelligence, but also to sports, leadership and relationships
