INTRO: Read this series a few years ago but still highly recommend it for its inventiveness and quality writing. It starts out science fiction with a group of human colonists that release a virus to destroy the original non-human residents of this planet but it backfires and makes every male human able to hear every other male human's thoughts when they are close by. Imagine hearing all those thoughts of your fellow classmates and be unable to silence their every thought. twist is that the males cannot hear the thoughts of any females...this brews constant suspicion as you know those females are thinking all the time.
REVIEW: Prentisstown isn't like other towns. Everyone can hear everyone else's thoughts in an overwhelming, never-ending stream of Noise. Just a month away from the birthday that will make him a man, Todd and his dog, Manchee -- whose thoughts Todd can hear too, whether he wants to or not -- stumble upon an area of complete silence.
